To gain you have to give!

o gain you have to give!

When I started my own business I had no idea what marketing was. I had no idea what I should be doing to attract the people who were already looking for me!

Sure, I flung up some posters. I told a few people. I demonstrated my skills so that people would stop and ask me.

But I didn’t have a grasp of what marketing is really about. And it was only when I discovered what was appropriate for my setup and started putting it into practice that things fell into place for me!

Would you like to get marketing working for you as you wish?

I love it when my Design your Future clients see that to change their lives, they have to change what they’ve been doing up to now - if they want to change the results they’ve been getting up to now!

So let’s de-mystify marketing!

For many people the very word “marketing” sends shivers down their spine - thoughts of pushy car salesmen, people foisting things on to you, not letting you escape. putting pressure on you to purchase what they’ve got.

You don’t want to sully your lovely offering by using “Marketing”!

You know that what you offer is clean and beautiful! It will genuinely help your client or customer. You only offer the best - of course you do!

That’s why you’re here looking for ways to get your special product or service into the hands of those who need it.

Amn’t I right?

So .. the thing is … how are these lucky people going to find you if you keep your work a state secret?!

So let’s have a look at what marketing actually is.

Here are some definitions:

“Marketing is the practice of increasing awareness, consideration, purchase/repurchase and preference for a product or service through consumer-driven benefits, advertising, packaging, placement, pricing and promotions.”

And another:

“Marketing is the science and art of exploring, creating, and delivering value to satisfy the needs of a target market at a profit.”

Put simply:

“Marketing is the process by which you profitably translate customer needs into revenue.”

There’s nothing nasty about marketing! It’s all in how you do it. Same goes for everything in life - it’s not intrinsically bad: it just IS. And how you do it is what counts. In each of those definitions, meeting the preference of the customer is all-important!

It’s not about YOU.

It’s about THEM.

So you know you have to attract people to your business whatever it may be.

How can you do that?

In my next post I’ll be giving you some ideas for just that!
