How to attract YOUR audience

I was looking at our perception of marketing last time, and I promised you some ideas: here you go!

Try before you buy

One proven method to reach the people who are looking for you is to offer some sort of “try before you buy”. It’s a way for them to find out who you are, What you do and whether you’re likely to be able to help them. It’s a sort of filter to attract the people you want because you only want the people who are looking for what you can give them!

You’re not trying to convince the world push anything on anyone.

You’re saying “Hey, I’m over here!” that’s all. Nothing sleazy, nothing pushy just, “Try me, you may love it!” It’s just what we characterise in our force-free training businesses using a carrot instead of a stick!

NOW, this is the point when people usually protest “But I don’t want to give my stuff away! Why will they bother to buy if I already give them stuff?”

Well have you ever been in a supermarket when they’re having a tasting?

They KNOW that if they give away food a certain proportion of people will buy and it’s worth their while not only directly in terms of sales but in awareness, publicity, branding and that is how many people operate very profitably by giving stuff away!

They know that a certain proportion of people will respond positively and purchase something as a result. Yes, they’ll have time-wasters, and frogs to kiss, But overall it’s proven to be a very worthwhile exercise.

So if you can shed your miserly tendencies HAHA

Yes - we all value what we have  and can be afraid of giving it away - You can discover a great avenue for new clients to find you and after sampling your wares they’ll glide freely towards you with little further effort from you.

Lovely! No pressure! No pushiness! just kindness.

Is this a way of marketing that appeals to your ethos?

It’s one of the joys of being a Transition Coach when I can see people seeing how their preconceived ideas were holding them back, and how they can now zoom forward, unfettered!

So what can you offer?

It depends, of course, on what your product or service is but there are ways of having a “tasting” giving your potential customer just enough to be able to know they want more!
